GREETINGS FROM BLUE KANGAROO!
We hope this finds you well as you gear up for the approaching winter and the holidays that come with it! We have some exciting news here at Blue Kangaroo! We are taking on a new team member! We want to welcome our new manager, Mrs. Tara Turner!! Tara is the mother of Miss Grace Turner who just turned 1 this past August! She is loving motherhood and is excited to be a part of a company focused on children and family! Tara comes to us with a bachelor's degree from Texas A&M University in Speech Communication. As a former banquet coordinator at Christopher's World Grille and partner in, "Elite Event Group" we believe she is going to be a great asset to our company. She is fantastic at working with the general public and does her best to meet everyone's needs. Tara is happily married to Chef Justin Turner and they are enjoying life with their new daughter. Please come by the shop and introduce yourself to Tara and please let her know if there is anything you need. She is willing to listen and open to suggestions; she looks forward to meeting each and every one of you who walks into our shop, so come say hi! Welcome Tara, we are so happy to have you as part of our team!

GRAND OPENING

So I am super stoked about our "RE" GRAND OPENING this Friday! To be honest I'm a little nervous as well because I have never done this sort of thing and I don't like being the center of attention. Although I am sure there are those who know me who would think, "whaaa?" I know, I seem out going but that's just to cover up all of me that is FREAKING OUT! I'd be happy to just sit in the back and listen to the goings on but unfortunately I found out a day or so ago I actually have to give a little "talk" on the goings on and new things I have added to the shop. Dear God help me! I just get really nervous so we shall see how it goes... yikes! Anyway, below is the info so I hope to see you there!

So I'm excited to say that we are bringing in a new back pack line this season!! I am SO excited about them... they are super cute and totally unique! YOU can meet "Nigel the Shark" in the you-tube link below! Introduce him to your kiddos before you ever set foot in the shop! My personal favorite would have to be "Fernando the Bear" though. MY FIRST TRIP TO MARKET

`WoW! On June 26th I took my VERY FIRST trip to the Dallas Market; what an incredible experience! I went with Tamisha Utermark, former owner of Blue Kangaroo and we had a blast. We had six hours, round trip, of driving to get there so got a chance to get to know each other a little better, all I can say is we did a lot of laughing... we get along really well and not only am I glad to have bought the boutique for my own enjoyment but now I know someone I never would have known had I not had the opportunity to buy Blue Kangaroo. My first thoughts upon arriving went something like this: as we turned off the main highway and onto the road leading to the trade center I had to stop to let lines and lines of people cross the road to the market area. Even Tamisha was surprised at the amount of people and commented that'd she'd never seen it like this. Come to find out I got the special opportunity of being there during "gift market" so many of the vendors that are not usually open during "apparel market" were open and so that accounted for the large amount people blocking my way to the parking garage. Anyway, as I walked into the main atrium area and look up my mind had trouble conceiving the 15 floors of vendors and merchandise. It was a bit overwhelming but let me tell you, it was "LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT!" I thought, "Oh... I could get used to this!" We checked in and headed for the 8th floor which happened to be nothing but items that pertained to children and having children... I was in Heaven! See, my main goal and dream in life from age 7 was to get married at 18 years old and have a baby when I was 19 years old. Well, guess what folks? That's exactly how it happened. I married my childhood sweetheart; and when I say childhood that's exactly what I mean, I've know my husband since he was 6 and I was 5. We got married when I was 18 and not long before my 20th birthday I gave birth to my first child, a daughter, Jewel Lilly. She is now 7 yeas old and the joy of my life! We have 3 others but we'll get into them later. All that to say, anything that has to do with giving birth and raising babies and children gets me really EXCITED! Don't get me wrong, having children is hard work but it also brings a joy that you would never know had you not made the choice to add that option to your life. Needless to say I met more reps than I am sure I will ever be able to keep track of and OH the decisions that have to be made... wow! And I only made a few this trip, most of my fall inventory had already been ordered by the previous owner. My head hurt... literally by! I left both days with a head ache. I arrived all hopped up on iced coffee and left looking for ibuprofen and extra strength Tylenol. All in all my whole trip was enlightening and successful! I look forward to our TWO BRAND NEW LINES : Jelly The Pug and Knuckleheads! Keep an eye out as they will be arriving very soon. Knuckleheads was voted THE BEST BOY BRAND of 2009! It's awesome and I can't wait to rock it out! And speaking of boys clothing; I think it's time to step it up when it comes to dressing our little men. Is is just me or is it extremely difficult to dress your little guy with style and trend? It's either to cheesy or "for some" to European. For me, my boys wear what I put on them but there are those daddies out there who say, "what? You're not putting THAT on my son!" When it comes to some of the newer European lines. But we'll get into all that later. I'm planning a whole blog dedicated to dressing our little boys trendy yet manly! That's why I am in love with KNUCKLEHEADS, and why SOON you will too!

INTRODUCING...

Hi There! Here I am, Cecilia Rusch, newest owner of a small boutique called Blue Kangaroo! I am so excited about the adventure that lays ahead of me! It has been a dream of mine to one day own a small store front boutique! I am also a wedding coordinator and have run that small business from my home in hopes to one day own my own shop. Back in April 2011 I received a newsletter from Blue Kangaroo stating that the current owner was selling the shop and moving out of state. I thought to myself, "Wouldn't that me awesome to own that little shop! That'll never happen!" Anyway, long story short, a good girlfriend of mine and I begin talking about a partnership and what it would take to buy this business. Needless to say I began negotiations with Tamisha Utermark and from there I honestly believe that God placed this business in my lap. So here I sit, 3 months later thanking God for the opportunity He has given me through the Utermarks to be the newest owner of BLUE KANGAROO! I AM SO EXCITED! Get ready to find out more about our new clothing lines, "JELLY THE PUG" for girls and "KNUCKLEHEADS" for boys! We are super excited and can't wait for you to try out our new favorites!
